Who loves watching movie trailers?! I do! Except when it turns out the movie wont be out for another couple of months…that’s just cruel and unusual punishment. They obviously don’t know what it’s like to obsess/anticipate about something for a long duration of time. A couple of months before The Great Gatsby came out in the UK, I was verging on hysterical every day, especially if I saw a movie poster on the side of a bus, or if someone else brought it up.

You know what, I’d like to formally apologize to anyone who came into contact with me during that tense time. But in the end, it was worth it, The Great Gatsby was a masterpiece. But before I get carried away with that, this post is not about Gatsby. It’s about trailers I’ve seen either on Youtube, the cinema or on TV that have made me really excited for the film. And I mean, isn’t that exactly a trailers job?!

8. THE BLUE ROOM– directed by and starring Mathieu Amalric.

The description IMDb gives this film makes it sound interesting and possibly something I’d like. It’s definitely something I’m interested in seeing, even though I don’t know much about it (but sometimes that’s even better.)

7. HONEYMOON– Directed by Leigh Janiak in her feature film directorial debut.

Okay okay, I said I was over watching horror films, but you’ve gotta keep an open mind, and from the trailer, this doesn’t really seem like the typical horror film, and it’s gotten a pretty good score on Rotten Tomatoes. So who knows, It might surprise me!

I have no idea when this film is out in the UK, I can’t find any listings for it.

6. GONE GIRL– Directed by David Fincher, and stars Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry and Carrie Coon.

I really dislike Ben Affleck and his movies. No idea why, but I’m willing to look past him for this film. From the trailers it looked pretty interesting, and David Fincher is a director I admire and have liked in the past…so who knows, maybe this is the film to change my opinion on dear Mr Affleck.
Has anyone read the book the movie is based from by Gillian Flynn?

5. A MOST VIOLENT YEAR– Directed and written by J. C. Chandor, starring Oscar Isaac, Jessica Chastain, Alessandro Nivola, David Oyelowo, Albert Brooks and Catalina Sandino Moreno.

I saw the trailer for this a couple of days ago on TV, and it captured me enough to stop what I was doing. Based around one of the most crime-riddled year in New York history, I think this film has the potential to be pretty damn good. What do you think?

4. BIG EYES- Directed by Tim Burton, starring Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz.

I’m not the biggest Tim Burton fan but I do appreciate his work. And I love both Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz, both fantastic actors. From the trailer this film looks right up my street, based on the artist Margaret Keane who’s work was fraudulently claimed in the 50’s by her husband, it looks like it could be a really interesting and a film in which I could be passionate about it’s characters.

3. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1- Directed by Francis Lawrence, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, Jeffrey Wright, Donald Sutherland, and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Obviously this is probably one of the most anticipated movies of 2014, and it’s clear to see why.
I don’t have much to say about this film other than probably millions of other people,  I can’t wait to see it!

2. A MOST WANTED MAN– Directed by Anton Corbijn, written by Andrew Bovell, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Rachel McAdams, Willem Dafoe, Robin Wright,Grigoriy Dobrygin, Daniel Brühl and Nina Hoss.

I’m gonna try and be short and sweet about all of these movies because, 1. I haven’t seen them yet, and 2. The trailer speaks for itself. Let’s see if I can stick to my word.

Anyway, I saw the trailer for A Most Wanted Man in the cinema when I was seeing The Guest. Seeing the late Philip Seymour Hoffman on screen or any actor that has recently died feels a bit strange, and brings a weird feeling in my stomach, but never the less, his performance alone from the trailer seemed nothing less than brilliant.
I think this film is already out in most countries.

1. NIGHTCRAWLER– written and directed by Dan Gilroy. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rene Russo,Riz Ahmed, and Bill Paxton.

I think I’ve mentioned before how much I love Jake Gyllenhaal  (aka Jilly to me and my friend Alice) and the movies he stars in, (I feel like I could write a whole post on his acting.) So natrually when I heard about his upcoming film Nightcrawler I was really excited before I’d even saw the trailer. But damn, does this movie look like it’s gonna be good (that’s why I gave it pride of place it at the start of the post…hehe.) Even the movie poster looks good.
I think this is gonna be a really good directional debut for Gilroy, what do you think?

So those are the list of movies I can’t wait to watch. Have I missed any out? What are you excited to see most?
